Instagram Story

Instagram Story safe zones

Stories are 1080 × 1920 px. Leave about 250 px at the top and 340 px at the bottom free of faces and text — Instagram puts its own bar, name, and reply field there.

What the safe zone looks like

The middle band, roughly 1080 × 1330 px, is where people can see your photo clearly. These margins are a practical guide; the exact overlay varies by app version and device.

Fitting a normal photo into a Story

Most photos are wider than a Story. With Crop, drag so the subject sits in the middle band. With Fit, the whole photo stays visible and the empty areas above and below are filled with white, dark, or a blur — a natural place for Instagram's overlays.

Works for TikTok photos too

The same 1080 × 1920 image works for TikTok photo posts and other vertical formats. FrameFit makes a still image, not a video.

Questions

Does FrameFit show the safe zone?
The preview shows the full frame. Keep your subject near the middle and you'll stay clear of the overlays.
Can I add text?
No. FrameFit resizes, crops, and compresses. Add stickers and text in Instagram after uploading.

Sizes here are useful export presets. Platforms update their recommendations, so check their current guidelines.
